Summary
Confronted with the prospect of spending her life as the new host of the same symbiont carried by her late husband when he is killed in an explosion aboard the USS Valparaiso, and she is the only other member of the Trill species available to take his place, as an immediate emergency operation is required to save the symbiont.
Close friends with her captain Anacostia-Bolling and fellow science officer Beriev.

Personality
Outgoing, confident and easy to get along with, whilst still having an air of authority. Loves camping and the great outdoor. Exploring and discovering, is all she’s ever wanted to do. Finally coming to terms with the lose of her husband and getting used to the unusual dynamic of being host to the same symbiont he carried until his death.
At times of danger, Alara has shown a reckless streak; that and a love of coffee, appear to be two things inherited through the joining.
History
Studied Biochemistry at university, before joining Starfleet.
Served aboard a number of different vessels before becoming head of Life Science aboard the USS Valparaiso in 2397.
Current role: Chief Science Officer and First Officer USS da Vinci.
