Catrin wears a silver ring with a Celtic design of her family crest, which has been passed down from generation to generation.
Personality
Catrin was driven to near perfection but aware of her status as a cadet. This occasionally got in the way of her confidence. Her nervousness can lead to overthinking or hesitation in high-pressure situations. She was self-aware enough to understand the danger this could pose and was working to overcome it.
History
Early Life
Catrin Williams was born in Dublin, Ireland. Her mother was a linguist at the local university specializing in folklore, which launched Catrin’s early fascination with language. Her mother passed away when Catrin was just 10 years old. This loss drove Catrin to pour her efforts and energy into her academics. She often thought of her mother as an inspiration to push her in the tough moments.
At 17, Catrin graduated from high school a year early. She had become highly fluent in Gaelic and developed a skill for picking up dialects..
Starfleet Academy (2398–2401)
She quickly distinguished herself as a gifted linguist. Professors noted her above-average acquisition of alien languages, including those of the Tholians—a particularly challenging feat. She also excelled at the critical factors and steps in complex first-contact scenarios.
By her junior year, Catrin was ahead of most of her class. This success was accompanied by nervousness, as she often felt pressured to prove herself.
In December 2401, Catrin was selected for a training program aboard the USS Nova, where she would continue her Academy studies while gaining practical experience. When the Nova was assigned elsewhere, she transferred to the Perseverance.
