Summary
An engineer with a loud laugh and easy going manner, he is still quite talented as one would expect of a Starfleet engineer. Has just been assigned as the USS San Diego as his second posting as a Chief Engineer.
Appearance
Tall, broad-shouldered with dark skin and brown eyes. Keeps a very short but neatly trimmed beard and short hair. Is usually smiling and easy of demeanor. He tends to cut a dashing figure that is at odds the rough and tumble attitude he tends to show.
Personality
Rough and ready at work, Victor has a direct manner softened by a laugh and friendly manner. Hard working he expects everyone to work as hard as he does, though he is patient when explaining a concept that a junior engineer is having trouble understanding. He would rather have a hard worker that might need extra coaching then a brilliant but lazy crewman in his engineering space. Like many engineers, he considers main Engineering his kingdom and doesn’t like other departments visiting and fiddling, even the Captain.
History
- Early Life (2363-2382)
Victor was born on Earth in Liberia. His parents were farmers and taught Victor the values of both hard work and light heartedness in the face of adversity.
Growing up on the family farm outside of the city of Kakata, Victor began to show interest in how various machinery and systems around the farm worked. This didn’t always end well as in one case when he was 13, his tinkering with the farm’s irrigation system caused some localized flooding and ruined part of that season’s crop. He would recall that was one of the few times his parents were truly stern with him and this almost ended his engineering journey before it truly began.
Fortunately for Victor, his parents saw he had both and interest and a talen and began to nurture it, though in a controlled manner. He began to take engineering courses in school and make a club with like-minded students. He even redeemed himself a few years after the irrigation system incident by tinkering with it and managing to make it more efficient. This actually earned him a local award and a job offer from the designers of the irrigation system.
Victor had bigger dreams however. He heard stories about the Starfleet Corps of Engineers and had a goal. After some thought, he took the Starfleet entrance exam and was accepted into Starfleet Academy when he was nineteen.
Starfleet Academy (2382-2388)
Victor earned solid marks in school and was a member of the Starfleet Powerlifting team as he felt an athletic extracurricular activity would keep him in shape. He also earned a reputation as a ladies man and he dated many women, from Humans to Caitians, though never showing signs of settling down.
Graduating in the top third of his class he then did two more years of training at the Starfleet School of Engineering’s Belfast, Ireland campus. He was then assigned to the USS Charger.
USS Charger (2388-2391)
Assigned to the Saber-class USS Charger, Victor became part of a small tight knit crew that took pride in doing their duties without the amenities larger ships enjoyed. Victor’s work which and natural charisma caused him to not right in. Patrolling the Klingon border, there were definitely some minor engagements and tense moments and Victor showed himself to be calm and able during such situations, even earning him a promotion just before he was transferred.
Starfleet Corps of Engineers (2391-2395)
Victor achieved his dream of joining an SCE team, in this case SCE Detachment 59. His team traveled to many spots in the Federation handling both humanitarian and emergency situations. He managed to distinguish himself on several occaisions, including a bemusing situation where his life came full circle and led a small team to repair a irrigation system on a new colony. He even managed to make it more efficient. He told the story to his parents and all shared much amusement. He recieved another promotion during this time. Finally all good things come to an end and Victor’s talents were needed elsewhere and he was transferred to the USS Astana.
