Oliver Tidwell

Born as the only child of two flag officers, Oliver was learned very early in life he was expected to obtain high marks in school, and to eventually reach a flag rank of his own. He had a hard time making friends in school, mainly because of his temper. He was very good in sports, especially baseball and football, which he played religiously for the schools he attended before entering the Starfleet Academy at the age of 16.

During the Acadamy, he was marked as a bully. He wasn’t really a bully to anyone, people just assumed based on his size and demeanor that he was a bully. That ended during his third year, when he actually came to the aid of a first year who was being picked on by 4 upper classmen. The girl who was being tormented by the 4 boys and girls as a childish prank, but Ollie had a hard time looking at the look of extreme panic and fear on her young face, so he didn’t hesitate coming to her aid. That girl’s name was Dellaveave Hunter, and they ended up marrying after they both graduated from the Academy.

After the Acadamy, the young couple had 2 children, twins, a son and a daughter. The stress of rearing two children was almost too much for Dellaveave to handle, and she took out her frustrations on her husband. Ollie did his best to be patient and understanding, but it became evident things were irrevocably broken. As amiably as possible, the couple agreed to separate, and their divorce was finalized a few months later. Immediately after the divorce was finalized, Oliver took a position on the USS Carraway as an Operations Officer where he served for 4 years, then transferred to the USS Sutter as the Chief Operations Officer.

During the Dominion War, the Sutter was destroyed, but not before Tidwell and 15 other crew members were beamed aboard the Galatea where they were transported back to Earth. Oliver was given a new assignment on the USS Korolev as the Executive Officer, where he served for 3 years, before finally being offered a command of his own on the Nebula Class USS Sutherland. His command style earned him quick advancement through the ranks, ultimately leading to his first flag commission as a Commodore serving as the Executive Officer of Task Force 13 in the 3rd Fleet. He would only serve 7 months in the 3rd Fleet before being called into serve in the 7th Fleet as a Task Force Commanding Officer overseeing operations along the Federation border with the Romulans. He quickly earned a reputation as a hard handed leader who the Romulans grew to hate, as he always seemed to be one step ahead of any plans they may have been developing to undermine Federation interests along the neutral zone.

His first service to the 4th Fleet came about 4 years later, when he was promoted to Vice Admiral as the Chief of Staff to the Fleet Executive Officer, Admiral Teylas Ramar. That same year, he was transferred laterally to take over as the Judge Advocate General for the 4th Fleet, earning him a promotion to the rank of full Admiral, and garnering him a reputation for being a no nonsense go getter who refused to be coerced into making a judgment that wasn’t fully earned. After 7 months, and the forced removal of the Fleet Commanding Officer, Teylas Ramar once again tapped Tidwell to fill the vacant spot of Fleet Executive Officer. As the XO of the 4th Fleet, Tidwell garnered the respect of many of his fellow Admirals, and made a great name for himself as being a man of the people, always sticking up for the little man who was being treated unfairly.

In 2387, following the resignation of the Fleet Commanding Officer, his nomination was easily confirmed to take over as the new Fleet Commanding Officer of the Fourth Fleet, and was given a promotion to the rank of Fleet Admiral by Starfleet’s Commander in Chief, Fleet Admiral Nechayev. He quickly got to work restoring the integrety of the Fourth Fleet, and helping to bring order to the Task Forces assigned to the sector and to the areas covered by the 9th Task Force in the Gamma Quadrant.
