Renato looked over to Rosa, it was almost 2000 by the time he got home. “I’m sorry I’m late, first day mission jitters I guess. The crew seem to do pretty well, but most of them were new and it’s taking me and number one a little bit of time to hold their hands. Not saying that’s necessarily A bad thing and I’m not trying to make any excuse I’m sorry my love.” He knew that he needed to apologize for being late, but hopefully Rosa knew the drill by now and knew that easily first days on a new ship goes super long especially when you have events like pulling a ship out of mothballs and getting it ready for deployment with no real time to do so.

Rosa smiled at him. “I’ve been around the universe a few times.” Her eyes were warm and understanding. “I didn’t think you would be early or even on time, this is a big deal for you and I want this to go well.”

“I don’t know what caused you to change, but I’m glad that you’re giving me an opportunity. Been some pretty dark times lately.” Renato suggested if you walked into the room.

“Ren, we are going to do this we need to be a team.” Rosa said honestly. “And part of that is my being understanding of your position.” Her eyes met his. “I love you and this is part of who you are, my love.”

“I still don’t understand why the sudden change, don’t even wrong I appreciate the love and support.” Renato read this question from earlier but tried to spin it so she couldn’t give him another answer like the one she just did. He wanted a real answer.

“Hey a girl has a right to have her secrets, does she not?” Rosa asked with a warm loving smile, but not really answering these question.

“I suppose you’re right. I’m just grateful that you’re here.” Renato said is he gave her a big hug.

“Good news, the kids are approved to be on outwatch station. I guess that means you’ll be going back and forth between here and there during any conflicts that might arise?”

“I’m hoping most of those conflicts are behind us now, Starfleet is it an organization of Peace not a military strength, it seems like lately we’ve had to show our military strength in order to gain peace which should not be the case.”

“You’re right it should not be the case, sadly there are others out there that don’t share our philosophy or ideals. Luckily for us, were a supply ship not a warship.

“Won’t that make you a bigger target?” Rosa asked cautiously.

“Potentially yes, but we have a strong fleet backing us up.” Renato pointed out to her.

“That’s a little reassuring.” Rosa said as she wondered how the kids were doing. They were accompanying them on this mission, and they were in their quarters in their shared room.

“Shall we grab them, explorer the Paso Robles a little bit?” Renato asked humbly.

“They would love that.” Rosa said, as she looked to the girl’s room. “Girls were going to explore the ship, in case you’re interested in joining us.

Both girls ran out excited. Both of them wanted to explore the ship.

Even though it was after 2000 hours, it never hurt to go on a family walk. Everyone left the room together.
