Location: USS Paso Robles, Bridge

Renato and crew were making their final approach to Overwatch Station. Had been a game of cat and mouse between them and the Tal Shair. For the moment though they were safe, even though it didn’t feel like they were safe. He didn’t like the idea that the Tal Shair we’re paying close attention to them. There have been a couple of minor sightings in the last few hours but they advantage as quickly as they appeared. He assumed it was some kind of intimidation Factor game that they were playing.

The four Romulan warbirds would be no match for a station and two support vessels. So as long as they stayed near the station, they should be okay.

“Keep us in stationary orbit, around the station.” Renato called out as he waited for his officers to comply with his request.

“Aye Captain.” T’Shan said has she navigated the shift into a stationary orbit with Overwatch Station. “Stationary orbit established, pouring down the engines we’re down under the effects of the Moon gravitation.”

“Very good, I want all hands stand down from yellow alert for the time being we should be okay.” Renato called out with a big smile on his face as he looked over to Mira and the rest of the senior staff.

“Do we really think the Tal Shair are going to come after us here?” Zara said wondering what their true intentions were. If you’re trying to chase him out of the area they weren’t doing a really good job of it, so was this more of a fear Factor game or they just playing games with them in general?

“Commander Solwick, let’s go ahead and dismiss the crew.” Renato said with the big smile on his face. It was already 1730 hours so dinner was being pushed back it typically started at 1600 but today will be starting at 1800 and going to 2000. Renata did not like doing that to his wife because she may be a little grouchy but it had to be done to make sure they arrived at Overwatch Station.

Renato wanted his crew at 100% crew participation during last rotation, just in case the Tal Shair try to take advantage of them fleeing to the station for support. He was relieved that they didn’t press the issue. Right now he knew there are four warbirds out there and they were no match for the station and the two California class cruisers.

“Number one, I want you to also to get some rest. I’m heading down to dinner no doubt the girls are going to want to see me to make sure that everything is good to go. They’ve already sent me like 23 messages today.” Renato suggested to his first officer, the choice of being a parent.

“I understand that sir, pretty soon my family will be on board.” Mira said with a big smile on her face, knowing that she’ll probably get the same amount of messages if not more.

“I got a couple things to wrap up here sir and then I’ll be down. Enjoy dinner with your family.” Mira suggested to him.

“Roger that.” Renato said as a scene starts to fade away with him going into the turbo lift.

Location: USS Paso Robles, Mess Hall

“ Well that was a fun Trainwreck.” Lira pointed out to her good friend T’Shan.

“There are no trains aboard the Paso Robles that would have a combustible engine that would cause a wreck…”T’Shan started to explain and then she was interrupted by Lira.

“It was a figure of speech…” Lira started to say then it dawned on her. “Oh you’re messing with me again aren’t you?”

“Indeed.” Simply replied T’Shan. Deep recession to her thoughts was a smile but it was invisible physically.

“You know for a Vulcan you’re very comedic.” Lira blurted out to her.

“Thanks.” T’Shan said to her with a calm and sterile tone. She was really trying for her friend’s sake to be more open and allow some of her emotion to seep through her logic.

She really appreciate the fact that Lira had the ability to sense her thoughts. She knew that she wouldn’t read her mind without a permission but be able to censor emotional responses without having to physically display them made their friendship really unique.

“I place a High value on our friendship.” T’Shan said if you wanted her to understand just exactly how much she really respected Lira.

Location: USS Paso Robles, Mess Hall

Zara and Malek were both in the mess hall, they can see that Lira and to T’Shan were eating together. “Shall we join them?”

“More the merrier.” Malek said trying to leave his natural reaction of wanting to quote profit and the rules of acquisition and how having a bigger group always meant the possibility of a higher profit margin. In reality he just didn’t want to eat alone and allergic group but also means that he could eat and didn’t necessarily have to continue with 100% of the conversation he could take turns talking and that was sufficient for him.

Zara walked over to the other two ladies and then humbly asked. “Mind if we join you?” Zara ask that she looked over to Lira and to T’Shan.

“Please join us.” T’Shan said in a sterile tone. Deep down she was also grateful, she didn’t mind large crowds. Especially when it came to friends.

“What a long day, I’m starting to wonder if we are going to have dinner tonight.” Zara suggested as they both sat down and then she immediately went after her plate to start eating.”

“Yes it was, but the important thing is we’re all here we’re all having dinner now.” Lira pointed out to the group.

“I hope we can find a solution to this problem.” Malek said, not really sure what the solution would be just yet but hoping they would find one nonetheless.

“Conflicts like these have a way of working themselves out.” T’Shan reminded Malek and the others.

“I know you’re right, but sometimes these conflicts seem like they’re way over our heads. Especially with the Vaadwaur, it felt like we were over ahead and now it’s behind us and now we’re dealing with the romulans well the Tal Shair.” Malik corrected himself, it wasn’t fair to blame all the Romulan people based upon that groups ideology and their games that they were playing.

“Well let’s hope it’s going to be a little bit before they mess with us again. But we need to have an answer to this cuz we can’t keep lean back to the station.” Lira pointed out to them.

“Think it’s time to call in the entire fleet like Riker did for Picard couple years back.” Malek said to the group.

“We don’t have that kind of influence.” Lira pointed out to Malek. If they didn’t make this whole situation be a little easier to manage.

“We’ll get through this, I know we will.” Zara suggested to the group. “Together there is nothing we can accomplish.” Zara said as a scene starts to fade.

Location: USS Paso Robles, CO Quarters

“Commodore, I was expecting a call from you. I assume everything went well at Deep Space Four? “ Renato asked as waited for Elsie to tell him. He hoped they had a new ship from lined up for them he had been signed the task of keeping an eye on her making sure she was ready. And he is happy to report she was.

Indeed it has, and I even have her family aboard. But for the time being let’s keep it on the down low. And you’re sure with this recommendation. I knew when I asked you to observe her I wasn’t sure if you were going to give her a passing review.” Elsie said, trying to focus on a more positive manner and not the fact that they’re being chased by the Tal Shair. Focusing on the daily operations of Starship life and promotions and things of that nature gave them purpose to her and allowed her to be able to grasp the reality of the situation they are in while maintaining objectivity and looking for something positive in all the chaos.

“I’m glad you’re able to pull some strings, and I know this is going to come to a big shock to everyone. But in a good way. I will be honest I’m going to miss her. But this I believe it’s in her best interest.” Renato pointed out to Elsie, he needed that she knew that too.

“You know I thought about taking the ship for myself, but I love the Paso Robles.” Renato pointed out to lc, cuz she had offered it to him first and then offered to give her the Paso Robles. But the old saying is true, you fall in love with the ship that you’re assigned to.

“Hey I get it, it was hard for me to give up command of the Paladin. But now look at me I’m flying around on someone else’s starship, itching to get back home to the star base. We all make our choices, and I think you made it right choice. The Paso Robles is a wonderful ship. I know that the cali class gets a lot of heat but they are definitely a workhorse ship of the fleet.” Elsie pointed out to him.

“That she is, and she’s definitely been growing on me.” Renato said with the big smile on his face, and then he went on. “I just hope my wife doesn’t get jealous of my love for the Paso Robles.” He said in a teasing voice.

“Captain’s and the love of their starships, every wife including me have to learn that a captain’s First Love is their ship. But I always remind Byron that I was his first love.” Elsie said with a big grin on her face.

Renato smiles as he looks to the main viewer. Luckily Rosa was in the other room she didn’t hear him.

“We should arrive in the station in the next 8 hours. I will say it is nice traveling at warp 8.” Elsie pointed out to him.

“Oh that would be nice, right now I’m restricted to work five almost cases maybe I should reconsider, I’m teasing I’m teasing.” Renato said in a completely teasing manner.

“You made your best time to lay in it, you already made your choice.” Elsie said and she decided to tease him back.

“I look forward to seeing you an 8 hours.” Renato said as the scene starts to fade away.

Location: USS Paso Robles, XO Quarters

Mira is now in recorders resting for the night, she had a big grit on her face thinking about how lucky they were to come out of that last situation unscathed.

She had just got off the call with her family, she was happy that they’re on their way to Overwatch station. Apparently they are heading back with Commodore Coleman. She knew that the Commodore went to the station to try to get additional support for the fleet.

So far Starfleet has sent over one ship she wasn’t sure it was on temporary loan or if it be permanently assigned, currently it appears that the Commodore was in command of her.

Mira could not wait for her family to arrive, they are about 7 hours, she wasn’t sure if she was going to get any sleep tonight. The excitement and the idea that her family is coming aboard, was a bit much for her to take in. She knew she would have a hard time falling asleep.

To try to help her get over the situation, she decided that maybe the best idea was to have a party tonight in the mess hall.

Location: USS Paso Robles, mess hall

The entire senior staff was in the mess all, to even include the captain he had just completed his call with Commodore Coleman. And now he had promised that he at least stop by for a couple drinks. The idea wasn’t to get completely hammered it was just to have a good time and to celebrate as a crew.

“You’re the best crew I could ask for, each and every one of you. I want to warn you that we’re getting a new ship in the fleet and there might be some crew rotations. If you’re selected for another ship please note that it wasn’t based upon any lack of discipline issues or merit based. We’re trying to create well-balanced groups and we want all three ships to be balanced.” Renato started to say, he knew more than he was leading on but right now wasn’t the time to really talk about it.

“Personally I don’t want to let any of you go, but that is a constant in Starfleet. Hopefully this thing will get the balance correct so that way when we get our four shift down the road we won’t need to reshift the crews again.” Renato realized it was kind of depressing speech so he decided this is supposed to be uplifting so he needed to continue on.

“This team is impressed me and even though we’re splitting up potentially as a group I want you to know that I’m proud of each and every single one of you so tonight we’re going to drink we’re going to have a couple rounds on me.” Renato suggested as he raises glass and the others did too.

“I was a little surprised to hear the news sir.” Mira said and she wasn’t even aware of the situation. Now it made more sense to her why her husband could come over as chief operations officer. Obviously Renato had been working with the other two officers or potentially three officers who made up The command Staff of the three ships. To come up with the new roster. She felt kind of sad that she was left out of the decisions.

She didn’t want anybody to be transferred, but she needed those particularly life and if there wasn’t in balance in the command structure then it needed to be adjusted. So she was fully on board with that idea.

“Well there’s more information that I still have to share with you, but this isn’t really the place maybe towards the end of the night we can go on a walk.” Renato said as he wanted to tell her privately and not in front of everybody.

“Understood Captain.” Mary said as they notice other people are gathering around them. Everybody had the same question on their mind but the new better than to ask the captain.

“To the best crew and all starfleet, I’ll do the best I can to keep most of you.” Renato said that he raises glass for another toast and everybody joined him and then everybody started to kind of break it up into smaller groups.

T’Shan and Lira we’re next to you the bar as I started talking to each other. “I would like to stay on the Paso Robles but if we can’t at least want us to stay together you’re my bestie.” Lira said that she looked her bestie.

“I would prefer that as well.” T’Shan pointed out to her friend. She didn’t like the idea of serving without her. “I suppose that also means that Jaxon will be accompanying us. On whatever posting we get assigned too.”

“Oh you better believe it.” Lira said, he was going to make sure to tell Renato that if she goes to three of them go together or if one of them goes the other two go with them that trio is not getting split up. She was going to do everything within her power to make sure that was a reality.

“I really like the operating systems on the Paso Robles.” T’Shan pointed out to Lira. It was her broken like way of saying she really didn’t want to leave the ship. But she knew as an ensign it wasn’t really up to her.

Both ladies were at the mercy of Starfleet they didn’t have enough seniority to try to pull rank, they could stay where they prefer to stay but in the end start late we’ll decide on its best operational needs where to place them and Lira knew that and so did T’Shan.

Meanwhile Zara was talking with Mira. “Well this is going to be a little demoralizing for the crew, but hey at least my assistant will have an opportunity to potentially apply for chief counselor position for the new ship. Even if she doesn’t get it it’s still a good experience for her and if she does get it well she deserves it because she’s been doing a stellar job.” Zara said as she was really impressed with her assistant. And her mind she was already ready to be her own department head.

“I have no idea where Starfleet replacing any of us, but I’m pretty sure we’re going to find out shortly.” Mira said as the conversations continue down for a while. But then towards the end of the party, Renato was waiting for Mira.

Location: USS Paso Robles, Corridors

“Thank you for walking with me number one.” Renato said as a third walk away from everybody else, so they could have a little more privacy to chat well that was on the mind of Renato.

Mira was just curious why he wanted to see her. And her mind she wondered if she was going to be transferred over as first officer to the new ship? “Not a problem captain, you know I’m here to help you in any way I can. Plus I am a little curious to know who is going to be transferred.”

“At this point I can only give you one name, but I know you know the person very well. I’m going to point this person to be commanding officer of the ship.” Renato told her with a serious tone in his voice. He wasn’t sure if she had caught on yet but if she hadn’t he wanted to really build up the suspense.

“Okay, are you wanting me to assist training them or training their new first officer or being their new first officer?” Mira decided to ask because the suspense was killing her.

“Not exactly number one, I do have a particular role for you in mind but that’s not exactly what I have in mind.” Renato said is he is still building up the suspend a little bit, he knew he had to tell her quickly before she completely lost it.

“Okay so you want me to be like an advisor or something?” Mira ask me a little clueless about what was about to transpire.

“Not exactly number one, I guess maybe I should actually tell you what I want you to do.” Renato said if he took a long pause to build up the suspense. After a couple deep breaths he smiled as he looked over to her.

“No Mira I want you to Command her.” Renato said as a scene fades away.
