USS Thunderchild

Ship's Patch

Constructed at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards and commissioned in 2369, the Thunderchild has served Starfleet for over three decades. A full refit between 2397–2398 modernized its tactical systems, sensor arrays, and fighter launch facilities, ensuring the vessel remains among the fleet’s most capable multi-role platforms.

Now, the Thunderchild has been reassigned to the Fourth Fleet’s Task Force 72, operating from SB72 in the Alpha Quadrant. Under the command of Captain Rynar Jast, the ship and her seasoned crew, with backgrounds in tactical operations and intelligence analysis, will now be putting those skills to use on the Federation’s diplomatic frontier. Their orders are to maintain stability along the borders, support Federation’s colonies and envoys, and act swiftly when diplomacy falters.

Dedication Plaque

In Task Force 72, the Thunderchild represents Starfleet’s willingness to pursue peace while being prepared to defend itself and its allies. The ship’s intelligence capabilities and rapid-response assets make it a trusted presence in regions where tension and opportunity coexist. Whether tracking the shadow of a resurgent threat or escorting a delegation into uncertain space, Thunderchild stands as both shield and spear for the Federation’s ideals.

Aegis Banner

Aegis Squadron is the Thunderchild’s primary space superiority unit, comprised of twelve Valkyrie-class fighters and one Aspara-class bomber. Upgraded during the ship’s 2397–2398 refit, the squadron was named for the legendary shield of Zeus and Athena, symbolizing their role as both spear and shield for the Akira-Class Heavy Cruiser.
