RRW Zdenia is a Galas-class science vessel operated by the Romulan Republic Navy. It is currently under the command of Commander Flavia ir-Llantrisant. In late 2402, the Republic Navy increased its allied operations with the United Federation of Planets and seconded the Zdenia to Starfleet’s Fourth Fleet. A combined crew of Republic Navy officers and Vulcan Science Academy civilians operate the ship.
As a science vessel, Zdenia has joined Constellation Squadron’s mission to investigate scientific mysteries beyond the charted edges of Federation and Romulan space. Although the crew’s search for knowledge is vital, their paramount mission is to strengthen diplomatic relations between the United Federation of Planets and the Romulan Republic through both crews learning to work as one.
Constellation Explorer Squadron
Constellation Explorer Squadron seeks to expand the boundaries of knowledge while strengthening the bonds of friendship, alliance, and loyalty. Constellation Squadron engages in this mission beyond Federation borders as well as within the decks and bulkheads of its own vessels. Charged with Starfleet’s earliest mission of exploration into the unknown, its crews specialise in solving scientific mysteries and parleying through diplomatic relationships. The unit is centred around the Constitution III-class USS Constellation, which has incorporated a Romulan Republic science ship among its squadron to strengthen their alliance under a joint banner.
While Squadron Commander Taes began her mission of scientific cooperation with the Romulan Free State in September 2400 aboard the USS Sarek, the USS Constellation was launched in March 2401 at the height of the Dominion Incursion into the Deneb Sector. Subsequently, Constellation Squadron was formed in January 2401 to engage in its inaugural mission of discovery and diplomacy in the Delta Quadrant. In late 2402, all Romulan Free State scientists withdrew from Constellation and the Romulan Republic RRW Zdenia was seconded to the squadron.
