The USS Rialto is a California-class utility cruiser originally in service from 2368 to 2390, the Rialto primarily served as a resupply and engineering support vessel for fleet operations; in 2402, following the Vaadwaur invasion and Starfleet’s concomitant materiel needs, the Rialto was brought out of retirement and returned to active service as part of Task Group 101 of Task Force 72. Captain Josef Lagerfeld is assembling his crew, old and new, as the ship undergoes refit and prepares to relaunch on a renewed mission providing critical support to Federation outposts and colonies.
